Venice is one of the most important ports in Italy and the Mediterranean. There are cruise ships and ferries mainly heading for Greece, leaving from the Maritime Station, located near the center of Venice. In particular, Terminal 123 is dedicated to ferries between Venice and Greece and provide passenger services such as bars, refreshment areas and supermarkets.
How to reach the port
Piazzale Roma is considered the main entry point to Venice and the only one accessible by car. The passenger terminal is also served by taxis and public transport links and shuttle services. There is also a high-speed connection on the People Mover monorail, which only takes about 2 minutes active. It runs between 0700 and 2300, every eight minutes.
To reach the port of Venice
By car: for those coming from the A13 Bologna-Padova continue on the A57 Mestre bypass and once you have passed the Mestre-Villabona barrier, take the first exit on the right following the signs for Venice.
Those coming from the A4 from Trieste-Milan, after the Noventa di Piave exit, continue towards Venice, then on the Mestre ring road, take the Porto exit and continue towards Venice.
By plane: the Venice airport is Marco Polo International Airport which is 15 km from the city. As a means of connection, you can use taxis (about 20 minutes), water taxis (about 60 minutes), public water buses (about 80 minutes) and bus lines that stop at Piazzale Roma.
By train: there are two railway stations are available, Venezia Santa Lucia Station, about 350 meters from Piazzale Roma and Mestre Railway Station, about 10 km from the city of Venice.
