The port of Roscoff, located on the northwestern coast of Brittany, is commonly known as Bloscon. The port occupies a favourable position, at the end of the English Channel and serves many commercial ferry routes. There are passenger connections with Ireland, England and Spain. Rosslare is a village that was created as a settlement around the harbour. The name is taken from the Celtic Cuan Ros Láir, meaning ‘harbour of the middle peninsula’.
