The city of Turgutreis is situated on the Bodrum peninsula in southern Turkey. It is an ideal destination for a peaceful beach holiday and is considered a "resort town" so it offers lots of services and amenities that make your stay pleasant and relaxing.

A brief history

The history of this town is linked to the Ottoman admiral Turgut Reis, who was around at the end of the fifteenth century, the city is named after the admiral who set sail from these shores for his conquests overseas in North Africa.

Places to see 

Taking a walk along the seafront in Turgutreis is really pleasant at sunset, or take a seat in one of the cafes on the marina to enjoy the wonderful view of the sea.

Beaches around Turgutreis

Turgutreis has a 17 km sandy coastline, most of the beaches provide services such as bars and restaurants. The nearest beach to the centre of town is Günbatımı Plajı, its location is really convenient  and there are plenty of deckchairs and umbrellas available to rent. There are also lots of shops nearby as well as the beautiful mosque. Palamut Beach is the ideal place to take in the beautiful views of the islands and islets just off Turgutreis. Fener Beach is a great beach for those who want to practice water sports, there is both windsurfing and kite surfing available and also a lovely restaurant near the lighthouse.
