Evdilos is on the northern coast of the island of Ikaria in the Aegean Sea. It is a quaint town with a picturesque port and old houses adorned with flowers along the paved streets.
History
Built in the 1930s, Evdilos was a port city born during in the period when pirate raids were completely eliminated from the island. For a short time, it was the capital of Ikaria before the Turkish occupation transferred the capital to Agios Kirikos.
Places to visit
The little centre of the town of Evdilos is a pearl not to be missed. Stroll through the small streets and discover lovely views and landscapes, then stop to drink in a cafe along the paved promenade surrounded by traditional pastel-coloured houses. There are beautiful neoclassical buildings and be sure to take advantage of the hilly position to take some wonderful panoramic photos.
Beaches
The beautiful beach of Kerame is not far from town and is a pebble beach that is shielded from the winds. It has breathtaking views and isn't very crowded, therefore it is perfect for those seeking tranquillity and is an ideal base for snorkelling and diving. Near the port there is a small sandy beach, that is not very busy but has no amenities. Close to the centre of Evdilos, towards the west, there are stretches of sandy beach that are exposed to the breeze.
