Netferry explores Copenhagen: Cheap things to do Part 2

Having spent some more time in Copenhagen, Netferry has compiled even more cheap things to do! Hopefully, by now, we’ve given you enough ideas for you to take a ferry to Copenhagen and try them out for yourself, enjoy:

Amager Beach Park - This is an artificial island that is several miles long and has a beautiful view of Sweden. Locals go over there and enjoy the sunshine, they take their dogs, go jogging as well as watersports like windsurfing and kite surfing.

Visit the Botanical Gardens - Why not visit the botanical gardens? This is something that I’ve started doing whenever I visit cities; it’s always a pleasure and is often free, or at least very cheap. You can’t go wrong with a bit of greenery - it's good for the mind and soul.

Walk around Freetown Christiania - Another interesting place is the Freetown of Christiana. This is a former military base that was occupied by activists in 1971. Its been going strong ever since as an independently-run space outside of the jurisdiction of the Danish government. Yes, you probably witness people smoking marijuana and yes, this is an alternative hippie community, so you will see a few characters around. But the best thing is to go with an open mind and enjoy what it has to offer, which is plenty of good vegetarian food along with great music and cultural events and even a world-famous skate park, ALIS Wonderland. Use your head and be respectful with regards to holiday snaps, this is not a zoo.

Visit the Black Diamond Library - This is also known as The Royal Library, this place is both the national library and the main library for the University of Copenhagen. From an architectural point of view, this is one of Copenhagen’s most interesting buildings. It was built in 1482, but has been developed over the centuries and combines old and new in a really striking way. The modernist extension is really impressive and is connected to the old library via walkways, creating a sharp contrast. Inside the library, there are also some really nice spaces such as the hidden library garden, which is really pretty.
